To make the program easily downloadable, it is zipped into
one file, which name is DBxx_nnn.ZIP, where xx is 16 or 32 (indicates 16-bit or
32-bit version) and nnn is version and subversion
(for example 507 means version 5.07). After you download it, unzip it to a temporary folder,
using PkZip,
WinZip,
Norton Commander or any other program supporting ZIP format.
Three files will appear in the folder after unzipping:
- README.TXT - contains a description how to install
- SETUP.EXE - installation program
- DSKBASxx.DAT - contains the DiskBase files, is unpacked
by the installation program
The installation is then easy: SETUP.EXE unpacks
the contents of the DSKBASxx.DAT file into a specified
folder and creates icons in Program Manager
or items in the Startup Menu. Then these files are not needed anymore.
Uninstallation
32-bit version:
Uninstall program is available in the menu Start->Programs->DiskBase.
This program is also listed in the Start->Control Panel->Add/Remove
Programs.
16-bit version:
The installation does not put any files into the Windows
system directory, it does not modify any system profile file
like WIN.INI nor the Registration Database. So it is very easy
to remove the program from your PC, if you do not like it.
You just delete the icons (or menu items) and then the folder with
the program.
